There is something about spring that makes us want to open all the windows and deep clean our homes. Did you know there are some things you can do during the months right before spring to help your kbhome get ready for spring cleaning? Here are some tips to help get your home in good shape before spring comes:
1. Clean All Your Fans
When the weather starts to warm up you will want to being turning on fans to keep the air flowing and the temperature down in the house. The month leading up to spring is a great time to deep clean the fans so that they are ready at a moment’s notice. Use a vacuum attachment to get the big dust off the fan that has built up over winter and then follow up with a damp microfiber cloth. Continue to dust the fan each week afterwards, and because you took the time to deep clean the fan keeping it clean will be a cinch.
2. Clean Vents
The vents that are used for heating and cooling need to be cleaned each time you change out the filters. Usually the filters should be replaced with the change of the season, on average that will be 4 times per year. Taking the time to clean the vents well each time will help keep dust and allergens from spreading throughout your house when the air turns on.
3. Clean the Inside of The Windows
Do a deep clean of the inside of your windows right before spring. Dust your windows and the window treatments then wipe down with a damp microfiber cloth, followed by cleaning the window panes with glass cleaner, then you will be ready to do the outside windows as soon as warmer weather is here.
4. Clean Baseboards
Getting down to the nitty gritty dirt on the baseboards is never fun. Setting this time aside to do them before it is nice outside, will make it much easier. Once the sun is out you will not want to be stuck indoors scrubbing baseboards. One of the best ways to keep them clean after you’ve scrubbed them and they are dry is to run a dryer sheet over them to help them repel dust. Remember to do the baseboards in the bathroom and kitchen areas where they tend to need the most attention.
