The start of any new year is a great time to evaluate what is taking up your space in your k b homes. Your closet represents so much of what is happening in your life, and is the perfect place to begin with clearing out old stuff. The most efficient way to clean out your closet is by making three piles of keep, toss, and donate. Here are some tips on how to know what you should do with all your stuff:
Knowing what to keep in your closet is essential. If you have worn the item in the last 6 months and it is one of your go to items, then by all means hang it up and keep it in your closet. If you have worn it in the last year but currently aren’t wearing it because it needs to be fixed than consider if the item is a good quality item that would be worth fixing, and get it mended! There are a series of questions that you can ask yourself to see if an item deserves the space in your wardrobe: Does it fit? Do you love it? Is it something you wore on your wedding day or some similarly significant day? If you answered yes to any of these questions than you should keep that item.
There will be a few items that will be easy to identify as throw away items. Clothing or shoes that you absolutely hate, and are in such disrepair that it doesn’t make sense to donate them. Often it’s just a matter of taking the time to actually throw out the garbage that has accumulated over time. Here are some other questions you can ask yourself to know whether or not to toss something: Is the item torn, broken, or stained and can not be repaired? Is it underwear or socks? If you answered yes to any of these questions then it’s a good indicator that it’s time to kick it to the curb.
Finding items to donate is a great way to help others out, get a tax break, and clean out your closet. It is important to donate items that are in good repair, and that are clean. If an item no longer fits, you no longer like wearing it, or it is simply an item you no longer want in your life than give it away.
