What is Insomnia?
Insomnia is difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep even when conditions are ideal. People with insomnia feel dissatisfied with their sleep and typically experience fatigue, mood disturbances, low energy, and affected performance at school or work.
Types of Insomnia:
Acute insomnia – This type is characterized by the duration. This type is usually brief and brought on by extenuating circumstances such as stress, tests, job responsibilities and children waking. A lot of people have experienced this type of insomnia and it normally does not require treatment. This type of insomnia is easier to get relief from.

Chronic insomnia – this type of sleep disruption occurs at least 3 times a week and can last up to 3 months at a time. Causes of Chronic insomnia vary :

- Unhealthy sleep habits
- Shift work
- Clinical disorder
- Certain medications
People with Chronic insomnia may benefit from some form of treatment. In some cases chronic insomnia might be comorbid, which means it is linked to psychiatric issues.
