Did you miss that class in high school about household management 101? It seems in today’s world getting a hold of the basic things to keep a functioning household running can become overwhelming and feel as though were short on time and that it never ends. Yet when are homes feel clean we then feel a relaxing peace that lasts for 15 minutes because chaos erupts again. How do we find that balance? Try these cleaning tips to see if they can work for you and your household.
Keep It Simple
What! That is the key to balance it all? Just to keep things simple? Yes. By breaking your work down into more manageable tasks that work for you, you will feel as though you can manage your life instead of having your home take over your life.
1. Having A Routine In Place
When you can have a routine that works for you it will simplify your life and you won’t feel so overwhelmed. The best thing to do is wake up before everyone else to get some time to yourself and get things accomplished before you have to wake up your kids or other tasks. Some people like to put a load in the washing machine, get dressed, make their bed, exercise, etc. If you can start a routine that makes you feel as though you feel accomplished in just a few moments then you are more likely to feel as though you can take on the day.
2. Have Your Sinks Always Clean
This may sound like crazy advice, but if you can keep your sinks clean then it will help you feel like you have more control over what comes your way and won’t make the task of passing the kitchen sink and bathroom sinks with frustration.
3. Getting Your Clean On
This is what works best for you and your household. When you decide to work as a team or individually for 10 minutes or up to an hour can really make an impact. By running around getting as much done as possible could mean you are picking up, putting things back, and tidying up as you can.
- Try focusing on only one room, or the entire house.
- It could be getting a task completed such as: cleaning the toilets, or folding laundry, dusting, or vacuuming.
- 15 thing cleaning. You do 15 things and then you stop examples include: put up dishes, start wash, pick up all toys on the floor, etc…You do that once a day.
- Try listening to a favorite song that gets everyone’s groove on while cleaning. Once the song is over you stop. This would be fun for the little kids.
- Make a game of it and see who can do the most in the shortest amount of time. Relay race style.
4. Put Your Kitchen In Order
Every single night make sure to clean your kitchen. It will feel better when you wake up in the morning. This includes putting dishes away and reloaded and started so they are clean in the morning. Wipe off the counters, sweep the floor. Make sure to enlist the help of your family members so you’re not doing everything by yourself. Many hands make light work and what would take 30 minutes could take 5 with everyone pitching in together.
Having a maintenance regiment in place will help you to not feel overwhelmed and can help you to focus more on your family, a project you have wanted to finish, some me time, or even get that one spot in your house that you dread and take a 15 minute stab at it before backing off. In no time you will feel better about things not spiraling out of control and can indeed say it is clean enough, keep it simple.
