We all have our favorite sleep positions. Some of us feel most comfortable sleeping on our back while others prefer to snooze our sides or stomach. What is the most sleep-inducing position to slumber through the night? The side-sleep position! The hope is for a full night’s sleep and there is no better way to side sleep than on a Sleepys mattress, especially with their excellent service and nationwide Sleepys shipping.
Sleep experts advise that side-sleeping increases comfort and can reduce interrupted sleep.
If you balk at the thought of side-sleeping, there are actually many adaptations while still reaping the benefits of the sleep position. Amid the variations, however, for inducing greater sleep patterns, drawing the knees upwards, slightly bent has proven the most beneficial. If you suffer from back issues, using a pillow in between the legs eases the pressure on the lumbar and hips.
This position is especially good for pregnant women, allowing for blood flow and distribution of pressure.
If you find that back-sleeping is preferable, it would be helpful to know that this position is not as conducive to continuous sleep, contributes to sleep apnea, and can put undue pressure on your lumbar region.
With that said, you can modify your back-sleep to place under your knees a towel rolled up or a pillow to support the curve your spine naturally has when laying down.
Many of us wake up and find we have been sleeping on our stomachs. It is not an advised position for sleep as it, too, can put a strain on the back. Placing a pillow in your arms or at your abdomen can help you stay in a side-sleeping state.
Try out some side-sleeping tonight and find yourself with less wakefulness and more continuous “zzzz”.
