What this is: A list of 3 great free apps for Apples or Androids that help you monitor your sleep cycles.
What this is not: A list of apps for hypnotherapy, relaxing noises, coaching, etc. Those are also great, but you’ll have to find those on your own.
What this also is not: A list of apps that require extra gadgetry (that’s generally not free) or a subscription fee. This is also not a long dissertation that would put the most hyperactive of toddlers to sleep. We promise we’ll keep it short.
What they do: Most sleep apps use the accelerometer in the phone to see how you move at night, and use this information to extrapolate your sleep patterns. While nothing outside of a full sleep lab is going to be 100% accurate, these can help. Most have any of these 3 functions- tracking sleep patterns, recording sound (prove once and for all whether or not you snore!), and setting “smart” alarms to wake you in your lightest sleep within a window that you set.
Top App: SleepBot
With high ratings in app stores, SleepBot takes our top place. This app will perform all 3 sleep app functions for you, plus it keeps a log to help you compare sleep over various nights. The interface is simple, and it can be downloaded to both Android and iOS phones.
Next Up iOS:
This app also has a smart alarm and keeps track of movement at night. Unlike SleepBot, however, you don’t get recorded sound or long-term data unless you upgrade to premium. (It does look easier on the eyes, though. Loving that purple!)
Next Up Android:
With comparison graphs, a smart alarm, and multiple alarm tones, this app is ready to help you sleep better. It rates similarly to SleepBot and users seem to enjoy the experience! There is an iOS version, but only the Android app is free.
With a discount quality mattress from 1800mattress.com or other online store and with some of these great apps, you can find a way to sleep even better and wake up feeling more refreshed than ever!
