February 8th marked the beginning of the Lunar, or Chinese, New Year. In Chinese tradition this is the year of the Fire Monkey. According to the Chinese Zodiac anyone born in the year of the monkey is very intelligent, witty, and curious. They are remarkably clever, but also said to be just a touch mischievous. I guess it’s no wonder that those 5 monkeys from the nursery rhyme were jumping on their parents’ bed. If you’ve got any monkey’s in your house you might want to consider getting a Sleepy’s Mattress Warranty just to guarantee that all that exuberant fun doesn’t ruin your good night’s sleep.
The Chinese Zodiac has been around for almost 2,000 years, the first artifacts of the animals being found on pottery remnants dating from the Warring States Period, roughly 475-221 BC and is represented by 12 unique animals: rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, chicken, dog, and pig. Each animal year is said to give the individuals born in that year a set of specific traits, both good and bad, that influence their decisions.
Whether you believe in horoscopes or not, one thing is definitely clear: getting a good mattress is ALWAYS a good decision. People have a tendency to put off purchasing that new mattress for a multitude of reasons. Sometimes it’s just a matter of organizing the time and transportation, though with home delivery service transportation is a breeze, but more often than not it’s just a case of not knowing just how much better your sleep will be with a good mattress under you.
Two Ways to Increase Sleep Quality
A new mattress can increase the quality of your sleep in two key ways, even beyond just being more comfortable.
- Reduce stress-a study done in 2009 showed that people sleeping on new mattresses experienced a significant decrease in their normal stress level. Stress does to the body what a light left on in your car does to the battery: it can drain your power and energy. Want more pep? Get a new mattress.
- Decrease allergies- old mattresses are full of all kinds of things that just don’t sound very healthy: dead skin cells, dried sweat, and dust mites. All of those things build up and increase over time making your mattress more of an allergen the longer you have it. Getting a new mattress at least every 8 years is not just a decision for comfort, it’s a good decision for your health.
If the Chinese zodiac legends are any indication, 2016 is a year when absolutely ANYTHING can happen. In a year where anything goes, you’re going to want to have a way to get some sleep. Get that new mattress and you’ll be better prepared to face whatever excitement is heading your way.
